The play was efficient and at times beautiful. The stars came out in full force and Brasil’s dominance was evident. For the Ivory Coast … not so much. They did manage to score a goal – a beautiful header from Drogba – but other than that it was an ugly showing on their part. Kaká is out for the Portugal match due to a couple of yellow cards from the referee but the Seleçáo Brasileiro is guaranteed a pass through. The march to 6 continues …
Brazil looked pretty good, but not great. Luis Fabiano’s goal was nice, but the ball hit his hands not once, but twice. It should not have been allowed. Maybe Ivory Coast could have come back from 1-0, but not from 2-0, so that ref decision really changed the game.
I will concede the hand ball even though it was a beautiful play. However, I think the momentum was still in Brasil’s favor an the end result would have been the same. They certainly need to tighten it up if they hope to defeat the stronger teams in the next round.
